Luxury Spa Tubs
AKA Hot Tubs
A relaxing experience made possible by product designers and engineers
Summary:
Designing a luxury wellness product such as a high-end hot-tub has many exciting opportunities and problems to solve. Product Designers work closely with product engineers.
Ergonomics and user-centered design play key roles in defining the scope and strategy for differentiating from competitors and creating an immersive experience (pun intended). Product Designers combine comfortable shapes to entice the user, and detailed styling to convey the performance and function of the product.
Responsibilities:
Concept Sketching & Illustrations
A hard working Product Designer explores new and exciting styling for a spa’s housing while coordinating features like the bar top, jet controls, recesses, pillows, jet bezels, seating and user interfaces.
User Scenarios and Ergonomics
Asking ‘what-if?’ questions while also being guided by marketing research and creating user experiences is the foundation for defining the luxury spa’s product specifications.
3D Rendering and Visualization
Experienced Industrial Designers use 3D CAD modelling, sculpting, 3D scanning, scaling, and iterative design concept visualization to ultimately narrow the design focus until the intent is captured in a strong narrative.

While the product designers process can be customized to apply effectively to the needs of the customer and adapt to changing business objectives, Principal Design’s 5 step process, employed expertly by our experienced product development professionals and industrial designers, is a framework that guides the design team and encourages goal setting and purposeful action.
OUR PRODUCT DESIGNERS’ PROCESS
Principal Design’S Product Designers approach every project methodically. The success of our product design process for product development depends on a purposeful, user-centered design approach. Organized into the five stages most proven to leverage our design efforts, Principal Design’s purpose-driven frameworks were developed and refined to reduce risk while balancing exploration with execution. While each stage of the process is an opportunity to reflect on and refine the design and specifications for greatest impact, our creative strategy is divergent to leverage resources and discovery, and convergent to select for the best opportunities.
